It’s a contemporary noir Costa Rican adventure.
We’ve always been fascinated by villains. Robin Hood. Goldfinger. Bonnie and Clyde. John Dillinger. Charles Manson. Jeffrey Dahmer. Eve. Our fascination with villains is so strong, we create new ones like Hannibal Lecter.
White collar crime and corruption don’t occur exclusively in major metropolitan areas, or only in Illinois. Fire Chief Alfred Short could be the fire chief in the city where you live.
When he’s also elected as County Sheriff, his ego gets the better of him. And when he finds his personal parking spaces at his workplace and his own driveway filled with FBI vehicles, he decides to get out of town for a few days. He ditches his phone, grabs some available cash, trades his beloved truck in on a nondescript sedan, and heads south. With no specific destination in mind.
Becoming bored with driving on the straight roads and eating in the depressed small towns he goes through, Chief Alfred decides to increase the speed of his travel. A random billboard near Houston provides an idea, and he soon finds himself on a flight to a destination he didn’t intend.
He does his best to disappear into a new country, staying on the move and making every decision on a whim. The one question he doesn’t ask himself is why do his travels appear to be running away?
